The CGM Voice Story

Global Management Specialization Graduate: Jillian Zhang

JILLIAN ZHANG is a member of the UCLA Anderson FTMBA Class of 2025 and a Forté Fellow, specializing in social impact and global management. Before Anderson, she spent six years at Rockwell Automation, where she led strategic partner engagements and supported digital transformation initiatives for EV manufacturing clients globally. She earned her B.S. in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University, where she was a Morrill Scholar and president of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers.

At Anderson, Zhang demonstrated a deep commitment to sustainability, global business and inclusive leadership. She served as executive vice president for the Energy and Cleantech Association (ECA), directing the annual Energy Innovation Conference, and as co-president of the Asian Management Student Association (AMSA). She was also a mentee in the CGM’s mentorship program, where she was mentored by Christine Loh, former undersecretary for the environment in the Hong Kong SAR government. Through this experience, she explored the intersection of business, policy and regulation across global contexts.

Zhang pursued international learning through the CGM’s global immersion courses and electives, including Climate Analytics and Strategy, Global Ecosystem of Sports and Global Public Engagement, the latter of which she took through UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs. She traveled to Belgium and the Netherlands for a sustainability-focused immersion led by Professor Henry Friedman and to Peru for Professor Sebastian Edwards’ course on balancing environmental protection and economic growth. These experiences, along with personal travel to 11 countries during her MBA, enriched her global perspective and deepened her understanding of international economic and environmental dynamics.

She collaborated with the Center for Impact to host sustainability-focused events and speakers, including leaders from GitHub, Microsoft and Watch Duty during LA Climate Week. Zhang also took an additional elective at the Luskin School of Public Affairs to broaden her policy acumen. During her summer internship at Eaton Corporation, Zhang worked as a product management intern and developed a financial model for bundling EV charging hardware and software and conducted market analysis for smart breaker product expansion.

A first-generation college student and proud daughter of Chinese immigrants, Zhang is driven by a desire to create tangible, scalable solutions to today’s most pressing challenges. She thrives in environments that value execution and strategic thinking and is committed to making impactful business decisions that consider a broad range of stakeholders. With a passion for cleantech, sustainability and global systems, she is poised to lead with purpose and drive meaningful change in the world.
