First Year Perspectives: What “Share Success” Really Means at Anderson

About Ronnie: Veronica Valerio, otherwise known as Ronnie, grew up in Southern California and lived in Temecula, CA. She went to undergrad at UC Irvine and played collegiate golf all four years studying Public Health Policy. Upon graduation, she played golf professionally on tour briefly before working in the golf industry as a PGA & LPGA golf professional. After her golf career, she worked in healthcare marketing with a Masters of Global Health from Northwestern University. She has always been passionate about helping communities and hopes to pivot into real estate with a focus on affordable housing post MBA.

“Share Success” is one of the three pillars of UCLA Anderson—but what does it truly mean? Before I even set foot on campus, I had already heard this phrase countless times. During my application process, I connected with current students over coffee chats, and every conversation seemed to echo the same sentiment: at Anderson, students genuinely support one another.

At first, I was skeptical. Was this just another catchy slogan? A bit of well-rehearsed school pride? It almost felt like everyone had sipped the same Kool-Aid. But the more I engaged with Anderson students, the more I realized—this wasn’t just talk. This was real.

Like many prospective students, I researched multiple programs, searching for the right fit. And while every school touted a strong community, something felt different about Anderson. Students weren’t just proud of their school; they were excited to lift each other up. My defining moment came during my recruiting journey to the MBA, when I connected with Lisa Li (FTMBA ’25). Lisa didn’t just offer advice, she proactively checked in on me throughout the application process. When I was waitlisted, she guided me on strengthening my application. Her support wasn’t transactional; it was genuine. That’s when I knew “Share Success” wasn’t just a motto. It was just Anderson.

Now, as a first-year student at Anderson, I see it everywhere. It’s almost an inside joke – like how we can turn a situation into “share success.” Someone brings leftover food from a club event to share in the lounge? Share success! A classmate shares their study guide before a final? Share success! A friend passes along interview questions from a job they just landed? Share success! Figuring out how many Anderson students can squeeze into a carpool to Vegas? Share success!

This is Anderson culture. A fiercely driven community where competition exists, but collaboration runs even deeper. We don’t just want to succeed; we want to see each other succeed too.

If you haven’t heard “share success” yet, you will. It’s not just a phrase you overhear in passing. It’s embedded in the very fabric of Anderson. From your first day to your last, and well beyond graduation, it’s a mindset we carry with us for life and something I’m proud to share at Anderson.
